My Dad was an Engineer from Pittsburgh and my Uncle was and AE from Penn State. The rivalry between the two was intense (but friendly!) and the two of them along with their wives never missed a Pittsburgh/Penn State game. Dad took me to my first pittsburgh game in 1953 to watch Pittsburgh play Oklahoma to a draw. You know back then Pittsburgh didn't play any 'pussy' teams. They were straight up all the way. After that Dad took me on a regular basis and I remember Corney Salvatera at Quarterback. I remember Toncic, Haley and Ditka. And i remember that Pitt was PITTSBURGH!! God Damn-it not PITT!! They were tough and The stadium was packed and Dad and I had to park and walk blocks (I thought I would die!!) to get to the field. Dad and I were at that humiliating game (as I recall with Notre Dame) where they did not stop the clock for time outs because we were getting blasted on the field! Then we had those years in the mid 1970's into the early 1980's where we started looking like a football team again! And then Poof!! Gone. I'm in my 70's and I've been a faithful Pittsburgh fan for over 60 years. I'm ready and I finally feel like we have a coach that not only has the ability but also the integrity to pull us back into the national prominence to pull us back up into the top echelon where we deserve to be. I hope I live to see pittsburgh drag Penn State's ass up and down the field on a regular basis (You know the reason that the hierarchy at Penn State only agreed to a couple games don't you? They wanted to make sure that Pittsburgh didn't stick their arrogant faces down into the sod before they would agree to an extended schedule!). And then, before I start feeding the worms, i want to see Pittsburgh stuff Alabama or Ohio State in a national Championship Game!! Is this too much to ask???
