While Pitt's baseball team has been up and down this season, ace T.J. Zeuch has been one of the team's stabilizing forces.

Zeuch, one of Baseball America's top college prospects heading into the season, was expected to be a star and hasn't disappointed. The Pitt starting pitcher is a perfect 4-0 on the season with a 3.27 ERA. He leads the team in ERA, opponents' batting average (.242), and despite missing some time earlier in the year, also is tops in wins and second in strikeouts (34) while working only 33 innings.

Zeuch's latest start was another strong outing - a complete game win over Virginia Tech on Saturday where he allowed only two earned runs while striking out seven.

In addition to the win over the Hokies, Zeuch has some big wins under his belt. In his season debut, he defeated Florida State (currently No. 6 in the USA Today Top 25), pitching five no-hit innings and allowing no earned runs in his six frames of work. He wasn't good against Clemson (five earned runs in six innings) but still picked up a win over the Top 25 Tigers when the Panthers' bats came to life in a 15-5 victory. Zeuch also has a third Top 25 win, defeating now No. 20 Georgia Tech earlier this month.

He hasn't been lights out as some of his performances against Clemson and Georgia Tech have shown. But he's been good enough to get the win against some very difficult competition.

By all indications, Zeuch will have the chance to be a high-round MLB Draft pick. We'll look at some projections a little later.
