Pitt volleyball standout Nika Markovic won her second ACC Player of the Week award. That came on the heels of helping the Panthers sweep both Virginia and Virginia Tech over this past weekend.
That makes Markovic one of only four players to win the award twice this year.
Pitt has many weapons on the team but Markovic is probably the biggest. She is an effective player in both the front and back lines, and leads the team in serving aces, points, and kills. Markovic is also solid up front defensively and behind only middles Chinaza Ndee and Layne Van Buskirk in blocks. In terms of best all around players Markovic is not only the best on Pitt but one of the best in the ACC.
As announced on Sunday, Markovic and the Panthers will face VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
