Nate Santos enters transfer portal

Well wishes to Santos wherever he ends up

NCAA Basketball: Wake Forest at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

It was announced today that Sophomore Forward Nate Santos is entering the transfer portal, becoming the second Pittsburgh Panther to enter the portal alongside F John Hugley IV.

It’s not an unexpected portal entry, Santos couldn’t carve out an established role during his time in Pittsburgh. He averaged 12 minutes his freshman year, only to see that reduced to seven minutes this prior season. With an increase in talent on the way to Pitt by means of new recruits and the inevitability of more transfers in, it makes sense for both parties to go their separate ways.

During his time at Pitt Santos averaged 2.1 points per game, 1.5 rebounds per game, and .4 assists over the course of 54 total games, including six starts. Santos was known as a knockdown shooter during his time at Loomis Chaffee in high school, but that success didn’t seem to translate to the collegiate level.

We at Cardiac Hill wish him all the best wherever he ends up! Thank you to Nate Santos for your contributions during your time in Pittsburgh.
