Pitt Places Three On Senior Bowl Watch List

No, seriously - there is indeed a watch list for the Senior Bowl. And as proof of it, Pitt has three players on it.

Star-divide

Pitt seniors that made the cut included Ray Graham, Jarred Holley, and Chris Jacobson. Here's the full list.

If we're talking snubs here (and, really, if we're complaining too loudly about a watch list for a fairly meaningless bowl game, we've got issues), tight end Hubie Graham might be at the top of the list. That's not to say that Graham is the best of all of Pitt's seniors, only that he might make the biggest impact at a position that isn't known for producing big numbers.

Other seniors of particular note include quarterback Tino Sunseri; wide receivers Mike Shanahan, Josh Brinson, and Cam Saddler; kicker Kevin Harper; linebackers Manny Williams and Joe Trebitz; safety Andrew Taglianetti; offensive linemen Ryan Turnley and Justin Virbitsky; and defensive lineman Shayne Hale.

Senior Bowl

The Senior Bowl is probably somewhat important to the players who get invited because (1) it is their first opportutnity to get a paycheck for playing football, and (2) there is a week’s worth of time to showcase their stuff to NFL scouts and coaches.

Since the Senior Bowl is meant for graduating Seniors who have a legitimate shot at being drafted by an NFL team, one can hardly considered Tino Sunseri snubbed since he hasn’t shown that he can even play at the college level.

Bowl

It’s absolutely important to players, so there’s no argument from me there.

But in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not that important. Individual workouts for teams and the combine, I have to imagine, are infinitely more important than an All-Star game at the end of the season.

And a watchlist for the game is just … stupid.
