Tyler Boyd speaks about commitment

Jared Wickerham

Here at Cardiac Hill, we're on the Tyler Boyd watch. The Trib's been all over the Boyd situation and a few days ago, Jerry DiPaola mentioned that the committed Boyd would be taking a visit to West Virginia. The paper now has some quotes straight from Boyd on his status. In a nutshell, it's murky:

"It felt good at the time because my boys are there and I'd love to play the next four years with my bros and my family, but it ain't about that," Boyd said. "I'm just trying to go somewhere that best fits me."

He added:

"I just think I pressured myself and people pressured me and I just took it the wrong way the way everybody was preaching to me since Day 1," Boyd said. "I'm trying to get straight back on track now."

Boyd also added that he was confused. I don't know where I'd rate his chances of coming to Pitt. If you forced me to make a guess, I'd stick with the Panthers. But after reading that, I don't know how you could feel all that certain about any pick right now.

The one thing I'm sick of hearing is that because his mom apparently doesn't like West Virginia that he won't be going there. If you remember, though, Robert Foster's family reportedly wanted him to stay home and we see how that worked out. I'm not saying his family won't have any influence on the decision, but to act as if that will be the reason he ends up at Pitt is probably not all that accurate.
