Pitt's Tyler Wilps wins ACC Wrestler of the Week Award

Unfortunately, I never got around to this last week, other than mentioning it in a rankings post, but wrestler P.J. Tasser won the ACC Wrestler of the Week award for his big win in the Oklahoma State meet.

Pitt, though, gave me another chance to pimp the wrestling squad as Tyler Wilps won the award this week, giving Pitt back to back conference winners.

Like Tasser did, Wilps knocked off a ranked wrestler, topping No. 12 Stephen Doty in the team's win against Virginia. Wilps himself was No. 7 in his weight class and handily won over Doty, 12-4, with a major decision. The win really came at a critical juncture as the Panthers led narrowly against the Cavaliers in the meet, 12-9 at that point.

Great to see that some individual honors are coming Pitt's way with the team doing so well as a whole in the conference this season.
