Nick Bowers is one of the more talked about of the Pitt commitments in this class. He committed to Pitt back in January, but a long-standing rumor/flirtation with that school to the East has been around for quite some time. As of now, Nick Bowers will be attending the University of Pittsburgh next Fall, although Pitt still has 2 1/2 months to keep him committed.

As for Bowers the player, he is a good one. He does not have a ridiculous offer sheet, but he is committed to Pitt over reported offers from Penn State, Purdue, and Temple. There are blocking tight ends, and receiving playmaking tight ends, and I believe Bowers is the latter. Watching his film, Kittanning High School used him out wide a good bit, and took advantage of one on one matchups with him. Bowers has the athleticism to be a very good player at the ACC level. He led them to a winning season and the playoffs.

Pitt has plenty of tight ends going into next season, so it may be hard for Bowers to crack the lineup as a true freshman. JP Holtz will be the starter, Scott Orndoff will play quite a bit, and Jaymar Parrish is more of a fullback, but lines up at tight end as well. Beyond that, Devon Edwards has played some in some blocking situations and will be returning.  Tony Harper hasn't played much, and Brian O'Neill will be coming off a redshirt season. In other words, there is plenty of depth for the team at tight end and Bowers adds to that.
