After one of the strangest season openers you'll ever see, Pitt faces St. Joseph's (IN) tonight. Technically, this is the Panthers' opener since their first game against Gonzaga was canceled after only one half of play due to an excessive slippery floor in the Armed Forces Game over in Okinawa, Japan.
The Panthers officially hope to start the season 1-0 with a win tonight. As I mentioned after the Gonzaga game, Pitt hung with the top ten Zags and played a pretty good half of basketball. Such an effort tonight should be enough to get the season off on the right foot.
Key point tonight is that this is not the St. Joe's team that has at times been very good in Division I. This is St. Joseph's College and a D-II team. They are 0-2 on the season having been soundly defeated by both Butler and Bradley.
The game begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be on ESPN3 / WatchESPN. I'll be navigating trying to watch the game while playing Battlefront at the same time, so there's that. Join us here at 7:00 for to comment live during the contest.
