Earlier this week, I gave an injury update for Pitt as they head into tonight's game against Akron. But since head coach Pat Narduzzi gave some more details later in the week, I figured it was worth a quick mention.
The good news is that running back Chris James and center Artie Rowell are ready to go and will play against the Zips tonight. Rowell played last week but was still a little banged up. James left the game against Youngstown State early and did not return. With the season-ending injury to starter James Conner, it was important for the Panthers to get him back in the lineup.
The team does still have some question marks that are expected to be game time decisions. Most notably, those are starting offensive tackle Adam Bisnowaty and starting safety Reggie Mitchell. Both are banged up and, per the Trib's Jerry DiPaola, it isn't yet known if they will play.
We knew from earlier in the week that Pitt wasn't sure about Mitchell being ready. But because Bisnowaty played against Youngstown State after being somewhat questionable, I expected he'd be ready to go. That apparently isn't a guarantee and now we'll have to see if Pitt needs to do some last-minute shuffling to the line.
