Pitt's loss to Iowa last night hurt, but once again Clairton product, Tyler Boyd, was a huge bright spot for the Panthers. During the 27-24 loss, Boyd once again carried the load for the team. He edges out Nathan Peterman, who had a very rough start to the night, for our weekly Panther of the Game honors.
Boyd finished with two carries for seven yards, but torched Iowa for ten catches for 131 yards and a touchdown. His play also opened up the field for a few passes to the tight ends tonight. Boyd was also clutch on the great 4th quarter drive where he finished it off with the game tying touchdown with just under a minute to go in the game. On the final drive, Boyd had three catches: a first down; a first down on fourth down; and finally the touchdown.
The guy simply continues to amaze the Pitt fan base game after game. Whether it's the the offensive coordinator or the quarterback's fault or not, everyone knows he's one of the very few receiving threats for the Panthers, but it doesn't matter. He just keeps making plays and getting open. With such a focus on stopping him from opposing defense, he always seems to be open, too.
The result wasn't favorable, but it wasn't for a lack of effort from Boyd.
