Signing day is now less than 3 weeks away and this one could/should be more exciting for Pitt in years past. I don't really remember waiting on signing day and hoping Pitt was going to get so and so or flip so and so. It was a lot more of.... ok woodheads fax should be coming in any second.
We are rarely on the radar for elite recruits that are waiting for signing day to decide. There was a smidgen of hope that maybe Foster would flip on signing day, but no one really expected it.
This year is shaping up to be very different. Right now we are sitting on 19 commits. There has been some talk about SEC schools courting Macvittie when Chaney left, and there has been a little talk about about Pine, but nothing that seems too serious. Ffrench has also been talked about flipping to rutgers, but that doesn't seem like a move that would come on signing day. It seems for the most part we will be holding on to all 19.
So what can we add?
Damar Hamlin, Khaleke Hudson and Miles Sanders are the big fish locally that could all come down to signing day. It increasingly seems like Hamlin and Hudson will wait until signing day to decide and with the recent activity for Sanders, it is possible that we wont know where he is going until signing day as well.
So with the thought that Pitt will take 25 commits and that those three are 50/50.... who else is out there?
Quayshon Alexander already visited, and while it seemed like he could have been flipped from Nebraska, I haven't heard much about him lately.
Robert Washington this would be a nice conciliation to missing out on Sanders, and it seems like it will come down to Pitt, TCU and Alabama. Playing time will be an issue at Alabama, so I see it coming down to us and TCU. This could happen anytime between this weekend and signing day.
Tyrone Hill seems like this is just waiting to be announced at this point. I don't have specific details on the situation, but don't see any reason he doesn't become a panther and probably this weekend.
Elias Reynolds is in the same boat as Hill and wouldn't be surprised to see him commit soon.
Keyshon Camp cancelled his visit and looks to stay with USC
Amir Watts has had his recruitment spike lately. PSU has thrown their hat in the ring and this seems to be very open at this point. With all the late activity, I wouldn't be surprised to see this drag out to the end as well. Pitt needs a DT so they will probably hold a spot open to him until they fill that or until he decides.
Karamo Diaubate has de-committed from PSU and there is a lot of speculation about what is going on. Did he know Shoop was leaving and jump ship early? It has been widely known that he wants to stay close to home. Some people think he is going to Temple for that reason, but that hasn't stopped Pitt from going after him again and seeing if he has any interest.
Some other names have popped up lately, Michael clark, Kvon wallace, Londyn Craft, Cam Ingram. Some of these guys could come in as grey shirts, some might be backup plans....not sure where these guys stand with the staff other than the staff has enough interest to offer.
If I were a betting man, I would expect about half of things to be figured out soon(probably this weekend) and the other half(roughly 3 commits) to take all the way to the end.
Should be exciting!
