In a brief recap, I noted the big weekend by Pitt baseball player Nick Yarnall in a series sweep of Grambling State. Seems others took notice, too, as he was given a pair of significant awards for his play.

Playing first base and serving as the team's first baseman against Grambling State, Yarnall had a series for the ages, hitting five home runs in three games. The most astonishing part was that he hit two home runs in the same inning twice in the series. Yarnall finished with a .571 batting average (over the three games helping the Panthers to three consecutive wins.

For his efforts, he was named the ACC's Co-Player of the Week. Yarnall also collected national recognition for his big performances, winning one of Collegiate Baseball's National Player of the Week awards as well.

Next up for Pitt baseball is a series against New Orleans this weekend before ACC play begins.
