Pitt Inks Its Four Basketball Recruits In Early Signing Period
It's official.
Pitt signed is four basketball recruits for the 2011-12 season today during the early signing period. So how does this year's class stack up?
Well, to start, we should identify the prospects. There's PG/SG John Johnson, SG/SF Durand Johnson, PF Jaylen Bond, and C Malcolm Gilbert. None are considered blue-chippers and all are three-star recruits as rated by both Scout and Rivals.
Still, so far, the class is getting some respect nationally. MaxPreps ranks the class 18th and Scout gives it an 'Honorable Mention.' The rankings could slip a bit once more players sign with other teams, but it's a solid one.
Another thing to remember is that this class is also surrounded by a couple of pretty good classes. This year's class, currently enrolled, includes J.J. Moore who has the look of a star. There's also Isaiah Epps and Cameron Wright who could develop into good guards. Then, of course, you've got the monster 2012 class which includes top five talent Khem Birch and potential top 25/50 player Steven Adams.
Not sure who will be able to step in and contribute right away yet, but Pitt's class is looking pretty good.

this is a solid class
these are blue collar type guys that are gonna come in and work hard, they should all be good fits for our team. also adding a 6-11 shot blocking machine is never a bad thing.

D Johnson is constantly compared to Scottie Reynolds
With Bond and D Johnson, this has a chance to be a very underrated class.
