Pitt junior guard Ashton Gibbs was named to the Wooden preseason watch list last month. Now with the season underway, he's been added to the Naismith watch list as well.

The Naismith award is given annually to college basketball's best player.

Gibbs is the only player from Pitt on the list. The Big East has six other players on the watch list including Corey Fisher (Villanova), Jeremy Hazell (Seton Hall), Austin Freeman (Georgetown), Kevin Jones (West Virginia), Kemba Walker (UConn), and Kris Joseph (Syracuse).

These preseason lists are kind of funny. They basically try to hit everyone they possibly can, but Gibbs might not even be the best player on his team. Brad Wanamaker's off to a heck of a start.
