Fellow SB Nation blog Big East Coast Bias caught wind of a release from Arizona State regarding some of the, um, credentials, of your favorite football head coach and mine: Todd Graham. ASU could have probably reworded their bio of their new head coach, to say the least.
The release said, in part:Coach Graham arrived at Arizona State following a stint as Pittsburgh's head coach. During his coaching career, Graham has been a part of two of the NCAA's top single-season turnarounds in recent history. In 2003, Graham led a Tulsa team that was 1-11 the year prior to go 8-4 under his defensive leadership. In his second season at West Virginia, Graham improved the Mountaineers record from 3-8 to 9-4.
As BECB points out, Rich Rodriguez might be interested to know that Graham was apparently the big reason for the Mountaineers' improvement. Same with Steve Kragthorpe at Tulsa.
This isn't a huge deal - I get it. And of course, Arizona State has every right to 'sell' their head coach (as they should). Still, there's a big difference from being on a staff and being the head of it.
