This Saturday live from the Army All American Bowl, Tyler Boyd will be making a decision for his athletic future. This comes at an interesting time because Boyd has only taken one official visit to date, and that was to Pitt. He also likes West Virginia, Penn State, Michigan State, and Tennessee. The possible allure of deciding on national television could be Boyd's motive for picking Saturday. It has been noted that he may still take official visits even after Saturday.
The sentiment on the internet and people close to the situation have Boyd picking the Panthers. That would obviously be fantastic news for Pitt, but we should all know by now is to not listen to the rumors. Even so, it would be alright to feel good that he could select Pitt this Saturday. Boyd is very comfortable with wide receivers coach, Bobby Engram. His high school teammate Titus Howard is committed to Pitt, and possibly another teammate in Terrish Webb could end up with the Panthers as well. Pitt is in close proximity, and the possibility of playing early is very high.
Paul Chryst is starting to build a solid recruiting class. Tyler Boyd and Robert Foster are essentially on the same level, so landing Boyd could really offset the loss of Foster. Many believed a few months ago that Foster would choose Pitt and Boyd would look elsewhere. Things look entirely different as we are a month from signing day. It just goes to show everyone that recruiting high school athletes is a very unpredictable game.
Saturday is a big day for Pitt athletics. The basketball team has a pivotal early season road test at Rutgers, the football team will be playing Ole Miss in the BBVA Compass Bowl, and top target Tyler Boyd will be making his college decision in the US Army All American Bowl. Stay tuned to Cardiac Hill Saturday for any and all updates on the big day.
