Yo Toto – we're not in Manhattan anymore.
After five turbulent months of regular season basketball, it's tournament time. But now, after 31 strong years in the Big East, Steve Pederson and his Panthers are switching it up and heading to Greensboro, North Carolina for their ACC Tournament premiere.
Despite Pitt's success in the tournament over the years, the path from the Pete to the Garden was never an easy one. Yet, now truckin' down to Tobacco Road, Jamie Dixon's men haven't taken any simpler of a route from the 'Burgh to the 'Boro in their first year in the conference.
Four overtime games? Ten conference games decided by 5 points or less?
This is the conference that played home to names like James Worthy, Tim Duncan, Len Bias, and David Thompson. If you immediately think I someone (other than the star of Space Jam) I didn't mention (most likely still the star of Space Jam), you're only helping me prove the point that this is the greatest basketball conference in NCAA history.
But it's a Tuesday in 2014, and your Panthers are facing either Notre Dame or Wake Forest in two days. Which one will it be? What's gonna happen when they do?
The two Pitt beat writers have answers.
Listen to my conversation with Kevin Gorman of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review and Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, two of the most knowledgable people in the city when it comes to this Panthers squad.
