Pitt hopes to push their ACC record above .500 with a win against Georgia Tech today. The Panthers finally looked halfway decent in a conference game after the team's victory over Florida State, but will again be tested today.
Fact is that Pitt's going to be tested by pretty much everyone left on the schedule. The Panthers are a young, inexperienced bunch for the most part and while they will win more games, I'm not sure how many of them will come all that easily.
Georgia Tech is a modest 9-7 on the year and 0-4 in conference. That record is utterly deceiving, though. They've got major-conference wins against Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern. Their close losses are just as impressive. In two games against ranked Notre Dame, they were first beaten in double overtime and by only three in the second game. They also lost an ugly game to Syracuse by only one point. Georgia Tech has been up and down this year (they just lost to Wake Forest a few games ago and also dropped a game to South Carolina Upstate earlier), but they've got the potential to play well.
And when you factor in that they're one of the better rebounding teams in the country, this is anything but a gimme for the Panthers.
