Going Scouting: An early look at Pitt's next opponent, the Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes are talented, but also a bit of a mess right now, so there is a reason to try and get an early look at them this weekend.

Evan Pike-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Hurricanes are located in one of the best recruiting locations in the country and they have landed their fair share of talent over the years. The Canes have also fallen on hard times lately...well, at least by Miami standards. The alumni of "The U" is not happy and this year, the school took a step towards correcting their mediocrity in firing head coach Al Golden. Larry Scott is the interim while a host of names have been linked during the early parts of their search (I think a coach out in Arizona has family there - sorry, couldn't resist).

The U is a mystery. They are 6-4 (3-3 in the ACC), but you know they have talent. It's a question of whether they are into the game or not. This season they have lost 58-0 to Clemson and 59-21 to North Carolina. They have also beaten Duke in the now famous "lateral game" and took out Nebraska early this season. They can give you problems if they are ready and focused, but they can also lay down on the field for you.

Pitt fans can see which team is coming into Pittsburgh on Black Friday before the Panthers take on Louisville at 3:45 p.m. today. The Canes play host to equally disappointing Georgia Tech at 12:30 today at Sun Life Stadium. You will have to either get your laptop out and check on ESPN3 or you can check your local listings. That's right...Miami is getting the "check your local listings" treatment - certainly a change from the past.
