Finding Time For Brandon Lindsey

2 days ago: Rutgers offensive linesman Desmond Stapleton (73) is injured as he is sandwiched between Pittsburgh defensive tackle Jabaal Sheard (97) and defensive tackle Brandon Lindsey (35) as Rutgers quarterback Chas Dodd (19) is sacked in the second quarter of an NCAA college football game, Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 in Pittsburgh. With the seemingly imminent return of DE Greg Romeus and with Jabaal Sheard playing so well (as expected), where does that leave Brandon Lindsey?

Star-divide

Lindsey leads the team in sacks with eight, good for seventh in the nation. Some of that can be attributed to double and even triple-teaming of Sheard, which Dave Wannstedt alluded to yesterday after the game:

"They were literally triple teaming Jabaal Sheard, so Brandon Lindsey stepped up and had three sacks. We were playing in coverage today and we were generating pressure out of our defensive front. I thought that made a huge difference today."

Lindsey's been a beast, but I fully expect him to moving back to a reserve spot at end once Romeus returns. I just hope they get him in on more plays because he's clearly earned that.

even with romeus coming back

there should be plenty of reps to go around for lindsay to get in there. he’s a great speed rusher off the end but his run defense could use a little work. he’s been an awesome fill-in for romeus this season and he should be looking to round out his game to become a more complete DE for next season. he’ll need to be without sheard on the other side to draw the extra attention
