Pitt vs. UConn ... and Mount St. Mary's: Open Gamethread

New, comments
Anthony Gruppuso-US PRESSWIRE

Pitt's in a bit of a unique situation with the basketball season opener at 6:00 p.m. against Mount St. Mary's and then a football game on the road against UConn at 8:00 p.m. Rather than try to throw two gamethreads up, I figured one was better. The two games shouldn't conflict all that much, so I think we're fine.

Both games are pretty important, but the football game probably takes precedence for most. If Pitt loses, it puts them in a must-win situation for the final two games against Rutgers and South Florida in order to reach a bowl game. Meanwhile, on the basketball side, check out Steven Adams in his first regular season game of his career. The hoops game will be on ESPN3 if you're not making it to the arena and the football game is on ESPN2.

So leave your comments before the games below and then check back at 6:00 p.m. ... and 8:00 p.m. to comment live during the games.
