Pitt star Ashton Gibbs is probably a bit of a long shot to be drafted. It's not impossible, but his stock is almost assuredly lower than it was last season.
Gibbs will have plenty of workout opportunities, but thought it was at least worth a mention that he tried out for the Lakers this week as part of their first pre-draft workout. As a Lakers fan, I think that's a place he could definitely be needed - assuming he can hit shots consistently, that is.
The Lakers have Kobe Bryant and Ramon Sessions starting, but don't have much depth on the bench when it comes to shooters in the backcourt. Steve Blake and Andrew Goudelock are the two main options there, but neither is all that consistent and both shot below 40% from the field this year.
Gibbs has a long way to make an NBA roster, let alone become a contributor. But if he can find his shot as he did last year and in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament a few weeks ago, then he'll have a chance.
