Tra'von Chapman is the highest rated recruit in Pitt's current recruiting class. He will be joining a quarterback unit next year that includes Chad Voytik, Tom Savage, and Trey Anderson. Chapman still has to complete his senior season in high school before any of that happens.
Tra'von Chapman plays for Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio. Roosevelt competes in Ohio Division II, which is the equivalent of Pennsylvania class AAA. He has put up some gaudy numbers only two weeks into the season, throwing for 685 yards and four touchdowns. Chapman also leads his team in rushing with 201 yards and two touchdowns on 6.7 yards a carry. Roosevelt is 1-1 heading into this weekend.
Pitt has not really had a true dual-threat quarterback in recent memory, and with the influx of Chad Voytik and Chapman, that could obviously add an extra element to Paul Chryst's offense. Freshmen quarterbacks do not typically come in and compete for a starting job right away, but Chapman could gain a leg up with his intent to enroll early.
