Tino wasn't Tino yesterday. Yes, mistakes were made; but he didn't absolutely collapse like he would have under Fraud Graham. He actually had the look and feel of "I have CONFIDENCE!" The fact that one pass fell incomplete, and they went right back to the same play and did it again successfully shows that. But look at yesterdays game, compared to last season.
Yesterday against the Penguins:
19 30 239 63.3 7.97 35 1 0 0 141.3
ALL of 2011:
247 385 2616 64.2 6.80 66 10 11 61 124.1 (believe me, I'm trying to find individual stats for game 1 sept 2025)
That QB rating is telling. His QB rating was better yesterday than the average for ALL of last season. Also, what's that? 1 more TD than INT? He's already doing better than last season (one more INT than TD)
I, personally, am NOT going to blame Tino Sunseri for yesterday. Nor will I blame Ray Graham or even Paul Chryst. I put it solely on the Defense. Is Tino our savior? Heck no, but for one game..just one game, he looked pretty dang awesome to me. And that's enough to give me hope.

Agree with you on Sunseri. I don’t think we can say the defense is totally to blame (with 17 points against a defense that wasn’t very good last year, there’s room for improvement), but anyone blaming Tino for this loss like is off base.
Over a full season with a bowl game, those key stats would mean he had over 3,000 yards and completed more than 63% of his passes. Hard to be disappointed with those numbers if he can keep it up. Of course those came against an FCS team but you’ve got to think he’ll get better as the season goes along since he’ll be more comfortable.

Wow! Thank you!
WoW..on the front page! thank you, it is an honor :D
Yeah, Tino played decent yesterday. he wasn’t great wasn’t perfect but he’s already surpassed his TD to INT ratio, came close to his OVERALL completion % for last year, etc.
He definitely had that “I’ve got confidence” look and feel. If he can keep i up, and the D can get back into form, Pitt will be fine.

Game Manager
They’re considered ugly words for a QB, however managing the game and putting the team in a position to win is what we need from Tino. Had the defense held up their end if the bargain last night I think Tino would have done this.

Exactly
I think Tino is going to change a lot of people’s minds this season. He wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t horrible enough. I didn’t hear anyone here, at least, calling for him to be benched.
