Going Scouting: An early look at Pitt's next opponent, Syracuse

Pitt fans will get a good scouting report as their next opponent takes on Virginia, who Panther fans just saw in action.

Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

Sometimes the schedule makers just do something that is very beneficial for Pitt and their fans who like to scout out next week's opponent. Today offers that exact scenario for Panther fans.

For those that want to see what awaits Pitt next weekend, you can do that immediately after the Panthers' 'game today. While Pat Narduzzi brings him team to Georgia Tech to take on the Yellow Jackets at 12:30 p.m. on the ACC Network, Pitt's next opponent, Syracuse, will be available on ESPN3. That will start just as the Panthers game should be ending.

The even better news is that you can see how the Orange stack up against Virginia, who Pitt just defeated at Heinz Field. Head coach Scott Shafer and his team sport a 3-2 record, as they travel to Charlottesville, VA to take on the Cavs, who are 1-4 after the loss to Pitt. The game will start at 3:30 p.m., and as mentioned, you can view it on ESPN3 or check your local listings.

Syracuse has a winning record, but a lot of questions remain. They beat up on Wake Forest and hung with LSU a couple of weeks ago. However, they also barely hung on to beat a 2-4 Central Michigan team and were steamrolled by South Florida recently, who had a 1-3 record going into that contest. With all of that uncertainty in the air, you can tune in and see how they do against a common opponent, knowing how Pitt looked against Virginia.
