Pitt faces Notre Dame on Saturday and if you were hoping for an official injury report this week, you're out of luck. The Post-Gazette's Sam Werner reminded us that because Pitt isn't playing an ACC game, the official injury report will be bypassed this week.
There's still some injury news to report.
Safety Reggie Mitchell, who has missed most of this season, is expected back. Sure, we've heard this before, but being that he will likely only see action on special teams, it's believable that he returns. Mitchell isn't expected to play at safety, as indicated by the Trib's Jerry DiPaola, but it sounds as if he'll at least get onto the field.
Another minor injury update that Pat Narduzzi provided was on Tyler Boyd from the weekly press conference. Boyd got a little banged up in that North Carolina game, but the head coach said that while he may be slightly protected in practice, he would be good to go for Saturday.
"Tyler's good," Narduzzi said. "He ran yesterday and he's ready to go. No question, he's ready to go. I don't want him getting hit like he normally would [during practice] but he'll be fine."
