While the Panthers will travel two hours to take on Akron on this evening, their next opponent will have to also load up a bus for a trip for their game. As we all know, Pitt travels to Akron to take on the Zips at 6:00 p.m. tonight. As most of you also know, the team's next opponent will be on September 19th, at 8:00 p.m. against the University of Iowa. How can you get a glimpse of the Hawkeyes before Pitt takes the field next weekend? We have some help for you.
Unfortunately, the schedule makers were not as kind as last year and in week one for Pitt fans. You will probably have to have a laptop out to watch two games at once, but you can also focus solely on Iowa at least during the first half of their game against Iowa State for a rivalry game in Ames, IA. That game will be on FOX, beginning at 4:45 p.m. east coast time. That will allow you to check them out for a half or so before the Panthers take the field in Ohio a little more than an hour later.
Iowa and Iowa State will both enter the contest with a 1-0 record. A good start is vital for the Hawkeyes, as Upper St. Clair native and head coach, Kirk Ferentz, is on the hot seat to begin the year. Quarterback C.J. Beathard will try and move Iowa's record to a perfect 2-0 before the Panthers fly into Iowa next weekend.
