After Pitt's loss a little while back to Cincinnati, it's not terribly surprising that the Panthers still aren't ranked in either of the two major polls. I'm in the minority here, but I do still think Pitt is a Top 25 team. We'll find out soon enough, though.
The recent polls, though, show that the coaches are giving Pitt a lot more respect than the media. In glancing at the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Panthers just missed out on the Top 25 with a total of 22 points and are slotted 27th. In the AP Media Poll, however, Pitt garnered only two total points, meaning either one person ranked them 24th or two people ranked them 25th. In either case, they barely got any recognition there and come in at 37th.
It's normal to see the two polls vary and even disparities as many as five spots isn't all that uncommon. But ten slots difference? Someone's dead wrong about Pitt - either the media or the coaches. Just still waiting to find out which one it is.
