Pitt waited patiently to be selected in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday and that ended well as the Panthers did indeed get into the field. The team will face the No. 7 seeded Wisconsin Badgers.
Both teams are in the East Region with the game taking place in St. Louis Friday (time still to be announced).
We'll have more on this later obviously, but at first glance, this doesn't seem like a terrible landing spot for the Panthers. The location isn't ideal and Wisconsin fans get a shorter trip to the game if they're going. But in Wisconsin and, if they can win, presumably facing No. 2 Xavier, the path to a Sweet 16 isn't quite as difficult as it could have been. You have to feel better about the team's chances of knocking off a Badgers team with several questionable losses and Xavier than you would about them playing an 8/9 game followed by one of the big four.
Game on.
