Let's get this out of the way: Everyone expects a lot out of Aaron Donald in the NFL. This officially became clear when he was drafted 13th overall by the St. Louis Rams. Of Pitt's drafted players, Donald is expected to have the best career. The bigger debate is who will have the better NFL career between the other two Panthers that were drafted: Tom Savage or Devin Street?
Savage was picked up late in the fourth round by the Houston Texans. The interesting thing about Savage's situation is that the Texans are in need of a QB. Their roster right now includes Savage, T.J. Yates, Case Keenum, and starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. I doubt anyone expects the the former Pitt QB to start right away or even any time during his rookie year, but he definitely has plenty of experience in overcoming obstacles.
Street got a call of his own early in the fifth round. The Dallas Cowboys came calling and Street happily answered. His situation is a little different, as he will be behind all-everything receiver Dez Bryant, as well as Dwayne Harris, Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, and is also joined by Jamar Newsome and Tim Benford. While that seems crowded, I think we all know that Dallas likes to let Tony Romo toss the ball around and therefore, they need a lot of receivers. Street certainly won't shy away from working hard and I think you'll see him get into the mix at some point during the year.
When all is said and done, who do you think will have the better career of these two athletes that left their mark at Pitt?
