2014 NFL Draft: St. Louis Rams select Pitt star Aaron Donald with pick No. 13 in first round

Streeter Lecka

As expected, Pitt defensive lineman Aaron Donald was selected in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft. Specifically, Donald was picked at No. 13 by the St. Louis Rams.

Ever since his meteoric rise up mock boards following the season, Donald was projected as a first-rounder. Now the real work begins. The questions about his size will, of course, follow. But Donald's work ethic also should be brought up as a reason that he can succeed.

As a senior, Donald utterly dominated college football. Despite playing on a mediocre team (and an average defense, no less), he stood out - so much that he was easily seen as the top defensive player in the sport. It comes as no surprise, really, that once he performed well in the Combine that he'd be a top pick.

We've got a whole offseason to debate Donald's abilities, but for now, it's best to give him this moment and celebrate s Pitt sends another guy to the NFL.
