Pitt Vs. Iowa: Breaking Down This Week's Two-Deep
Another game, another set of game notes released by the athletic department. In anticipation of the Panthers' first visit to Iowa in 60 years, here's the depth chart.
For comparison, here's the past depth charts:
QB: Tino Sunseri, Trey Anderson OR Mark Myers
Reaction: No change from last week. It was good to see Anderson get some snaps in last week. I expect that should Sunseri struggle, Anderson will get some snaps in.
RB: Ray Graham, Zach Brown, Corey Davis OR Malcolm Crockett
Reaction: No change from last week.
Fullback: Mark Giubilato, Khaynin Mosley-Smith
Reaction: No change from last week
H-back: Hubie Graham, Drew Carswell
Reaction: No change from last week. Good to see Graham get a bigger role in the offense last week. Look for him to have a similar role this week.
X-Receiver: Devin Street, Ed Tinker
Y-Receiver: Mike Shanahan, Salath Williams
Z-Receiver: Cameron Saddler, Ronald Jones
Reaction: No change from last week. I've been disappointed with Saddler's play the past two games. Jones on the other hand has been a surprise in special teams and saw some time on the offense last week.
LT: Juantez Hollins, Justin Virbitsky
LG: Chris Jacobson, Matt Rotheram
C: Ryan Turnley, Chris Jacobson
RG: Lucas Nix, Cory King
RT: Jordan Gibbs, Greg Gaskins
Reaction: No change from last week. The line is a mess, but unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of options for mixing things up. Turnley continues to be a pleasant surprise, being consistent with his snaps.
Defensive End: Brandon Lindsey, Justin Hargrove
Reaction: The biggest change in the depth chart this week. Lindsey started at end last week and the coaches liked how his insertion in the line worked, as the defense held the Maine offense to -2 yards in the 1st quarter and didn't let them get a first down until the 2nd quarter.
Defensive Tackle: Chas Alecxih, Tyrone Ezell
Reaction: No change from last week. Good to see Ezell get a few snaps in last week.
Nose Tackle: Myles Caragein, Aaron Donald, Khaynin Mosley-Smith
Reaction: A slight change from last week as Donald has moved over from end to nose tackle due to Lindsey's move. Caragein had an off game last week, only recording one tackle.
Panther linebacker: Juan Price, LaQuentin Smith, Joe Trebitz
Reaction: Another change to the starting lineup. Price got his first collegiate start last week and Smith also saw some playing time. Price had a decent game, recording three tackles including one for loss.
Spur linebacker: Greg Williams, Todd Thomas, Carl Fleming
Reaction: No change from last week.
SAM linebacker: Shane Gordon, Tristan Roberts
Reaction: No change from last week.
WILL linebacker: Max Gruder, Tristan Roberts
Reaction: No change from last week.
Cornerback: K'Waun Williams AND Antwuan Reed, Buddy Jackson, Saheed Imoru, Lloyd Carrington
Reaction: No change from last week.
Bandit Safety: Jason Hendricks, Lafayette Pitts, Brandon Ifill
Reaction: No change from last week. Still waiting for Pitts to see the field.
Free Safety: Jarred Holley, Andrew Taglianetty, Brandon Ifill
Reaction: No change from last week.
Special Teams: Kevin Harper (PK), Matt Yoklic (P + holder), Kevin Barthelemy (LS), Buddy Jackson OR Corey Davis (KOR), Ronald Jones (PR)
Reaction: No change from last week. Harper needs to work on his field goals.

Where's Donald?!?
I have a huge problem with this 2-deep lineup…because Aaron Donald isn’t anywhere on it. He has been one of the most consistent players on the defense, and he’s not even on the two deep? Must be an oversight as i’m sure he’ll get plenty of snaps…maybe more than the listed starters.

Donald
That is an oversight Hank - thanks for catching. Donald should be listed ahead of Mosley-Smith and behind Myles Caragein at nose tackle, I believe.

Yoklic
Can Yoklic kick FGs? Hopefully Harper improves but we can’t have a guy who only makes 25% of his kicks keep running out there.
If Yoklic can’t, we may need to hold an open tryout.

Graham says Harper is guy
“Our kicks have been bad, we’ve just missed field goals, but Kevin Harper is a guy I think has as much ability as any kicker I’ve been around, so we’ve just got to iron that out.

Kickers
According to SB Nation’s roster, Pitt has four other kickers (two seniors/two freshmen) on their roster - so I’d imagine one of those guys would get a shot before Yoklic.

Hope
I just hope Harper gets it together. Missing multiple field goals from 40 yards and in is pretty much inexcusable.
