Another Pitt season is upon us, and with that comes fresh set of (hopefully) thirteen game predictions from us here at Cardiac Hill.
Normally, I'd provide at least a decent breakdown of why Pitt should beat Youngstown State, and the reasons behind my own pick, but there is absolutely no reason Pitt should lose this game. None. Now, of course, Pitt has proven it will sometimes do things it never should, but I have a sense we'll see less of that from now on with Pat Narduzzi in charge (hopefully).
The last debut of a head coach was obviously a dumpster fire considering Paul Chryst lost to Youngstown State by two touchdowns. That game had a few starters suspended the night before, along with a sense that the players didn't come in with the right attitude of respect for Youngstown State.
You may be saying, "but JD, we have two starters suspended this time too!" and I'd say you were right, but I'd also point out that Pitt has known Tyler Boyd and Rori Blair would not be playing for several weeks now, and have been able to scheme without them. The players that were suspended for Paul Chryst's debut were suspended that morning.
There have been some questions about the health of the offensive line, but I think they will not factor a huge amount in to the game. Pitt should win this game injuries or not, easily. People are nervous for this game because of what happened last time, but I truly believe that was a one time deal to lose to an FCS team. This is pretty much a completely different team, completely different staff, completely different support structure behind the team, etc. Pitt will be fine and should win comfortably.
I hope.
Staff Predictions:
Anson - Pitt (0-0)
Aron - Pitt (0-0)
Chris - Pitt (0-0)
JD - Pitt (0-0)
Jim - Pitt (0-0)
Stephen - Pitt (0-0)
